Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical design of phased array antennas and spacecraft subsystems from concept through space flight. You will lead architecture trades, analyses, and packaging while developing CAD models, drawings, and thermal architecture across all development phases.

The role requires strong communication skills to present design reviews to customers and executives and to support proposals.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 5 years of space antenna and payload mechanical engineering experience including electronics packaging, thermal, shock, vibration, and cost.
• Experience with architectural trade studies including parametric and first-order cost/physical analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD/FEA tools (Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop).
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
• Experience with advanced aerospace manufacturing and materials (sandwich panels, carbon composites) and deployment mechanisms for space applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design from concept through space flight, including requirements definition, architecture trades, and block diagrams.
• Perform analyses and develop manufacturing plans, tests, and qualification activities.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executive teams; contribute to proposal-writing efforts.
