Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design for phased array antennas and spacecraft interfaces. You will own architecture trades, 3D CAD work, and analyses through the entire development cycle, from concept to flight and beyond.

You will present designs to customers and executives, support qualification tests, and assist in proposal writing. A strong background in aerospace manufacturing and space hardware is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or institution.
• Minimum of 4 years of space antenna and payload mechanical engineering experience, including electronics packaging, thermal, shock, vibration, stress dynamics, and cost.
• Experience with architectural trade studies and first-order cost/physical analysis.
• Experience with professional mechanical and FEA CAD tools (e.g., Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop).
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
• Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing, sandwich panels, carbon composites, or deployable space mechanisms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for CesiumAstro phased array antennas and subsystems through development stages.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executives; contribute to proposals.
• Develop concepts to spaceflight-ready designs, including requirements, trades, analysis, and testing.
