Job summary

CesiumAstro, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer I to lead mechanical design for phased array antennas and related subsystems. You will drive architecture trades, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and qualification across all development stages, including in-orbit support.

The role requires expertise in CAD/FEA tools, EMI/EMC mitigation, and satellite thermal control, plus strong communication skills for customer and executive interactions. Prior space hardware experience is essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 4 years in space antenna and payload mechanical engineering with packaging, thermal, shock, vibration, stress dynamics, and cost.
• Experience with architectural trade studies including parametric and first-order cost/physical analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD/FEA tools such as Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
• Experience with aerospace materials like sandwich panels and carbon composites or deployment mechanisms for space applications.
• Proficiency in detailed mechanical design (3D CAD, drawings).
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation, satellite thermal architectures, and orbital thermal control.
• Familiarity with launch/LEO environments, design for test, manufacturability, assembly, reliability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Handle mechanical design of Cesium phased array antennas, subsystems, and interfaces through all development phases.
• Perform architecture trades, analysis, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
• Present design review materials to customers and executive team; assist in proposal writing.
• Ensure EMI/EMC mitigation and thermal architecture considerations are integrated into designs.
