Job summary

CesiumAstro is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and analyze space antenna hardware, packaging, and thermal systems for phased array satellite antennas. You will drive CAD models, perform FEA, and support testing, qualification, and in-orbit activities.

Excellent communication is required for customer reviews and proposals. The role emphasizes hands-on, autonomous work in a startup-like environment with opportunities to contribute to cutting-edge space systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• 4+ years in space antenna and payload mechanical engineering (master's counts as 2 years).
• Experience with architectural trade studies and cost/physical analysis.
• Experience with CAD/FEA tools such as Ansys Mechanical, SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with CNC manufacturing and GD&T.
• Experience with aerospace materials and deployable space mechanisms.
• Proficient in detailed mechanical design (3D CAD, drawings).
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation and space thermal architecture.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of Cesium phased array antennas, subsystems, interfaces.
• Perform architecture trades, analyses, and block diagrams through all development phases.
• Create manufacturing drawings, packaging, and qualification plans.
• Present design reviews to customers and executives; contribute to proposals.
