Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior avionics engineer to drive END-TO-END development of space-rated hardware for the TeraWave system. You will lead design, analysis, testing, and critical reviews through qualification and production release.

The role requires cross-disciplinary leadership, collaboration with customers, PCB interconnect design, signal and power integrity analyses, and mentoring of junior engineers. Proficiency with Altium, Python/C++, MATLAB, and scripting is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
  • 7+ years hands-on experience designing ruggedized electronic components or high-reliability hardware.
  • End-to-end space-rated component development from requirements through production release.
  • Experience designing hardware for radiation environments with EEE parts qualification.
  • Experience integrating complex optoelectronic and electromechanical components into flight hardware.
  • Strong digital design experience including FPGAs, CMOS sensors, and DDR memory.
  • Hands-on PCB design using Altium Designer with impedance-controlled nets and EMI/EMC mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end product development for a space-rated component.
  • Provide leadership within a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Participate in the full design cycle of flight and mission-critical avionics.
  • Collaborate with customers to define requirements and design architecture.
  • Lead design trade studies and ensure high reliability in harsh environments.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and review designs.
