Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks a senior space avionics engineer to own end-to-end development of space-rated components, from requirements through qualification and production release. You will lead cross-disciplinary teams, design hardware for radiation environments, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with customers and stakeholders.

Candidates should have 7+ years of experience in ruggedized electronics, hands-on PCB design with Altium, and strong C/C++ skills; U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
  • 7+ years designing ruggedized electronic components or high-reliability hardware.
  • End-to-end product development for a space-rated component through qualification and production release.
  • Experience designing hardware for radiation environments, including EEE parts selection and qualification for space.
  • Experience integrating complex optoelectronic and electromechanical components into flight hardware.
  • Strong digital design experience, including FPGAs, CMOS sensors, and DDR memory.
  • Hands-on PCB design with Altium Designer, including multi-layer stack-ups, impedance-controlled nets, FPGA integration, and EMI/EMC mitigation.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end product development for a space-rated component.
  • Provide leadership as a member of a cross-disciplinary team in a fast-paced design environment.
  • Participate in the entire design cycle of flight and mission-critical avionics.
  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to define requirements and design architecture.
  • Collaborate with the electrical engineering team to analyze PCB interconnects, signal integrity, and power integrity.
  • Lead design trade studies and ensure reliability in harsh environments.
  • Create mechanical interface definitions, specs, and control documents.
  • Plan and conduct engineering tests and data reviews; present findings.
