Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) project development in the US and internationally. You will work with teams to qualify opportunities, perform due diligence, and respond to RFPs for renewables procurement.

The role focuses on preliminary design evaluation, coordinating with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams, with projects ranging from 2 MW to 500 MW and up to 15% travel.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with PV modeling tools such as PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope and Plant Predict.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
