Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) project development across the US and internationally. You will work with teams to qualify opportunities, perform due diligence, and respond to RFPs for renewables projects.

The role requires deep PV and battery storage design/engineering knowledge (2 MW to 500 MW) and experience with project economics and Power Purchase Agreements. Up to 15% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development, design, analysis and construction.
• Proficiency with common renewable energy system modeling tools and packages, such as PVSYST, HOMER, SAM, Helioscope and Plant Predict.
• Proficiency with common CAD tools such as AutoCAD.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications, advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Model energy production for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
• Model battery dispatch for projects in development.
• Site evaluation (remote and in-person) for project suitability.
• Project pricing and value engineering exercises with an Estimator.
• Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines.
• Recommend primary project equipment (inverters, PV modules, racking, batteries).
• Technical diligence for new project opportunities, assessing accuracy of third-party estimates and site plans.
• Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and Acquisition studies up to 30% design.
