Job summary
AES Corporation seeks a Senior Development Engineer to drive solar PV and integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) project development across the US and internationally. You will qualify opportunities, perform technical due diligence, and respond to RFPs from utilities and municipalities as part of a cross‑functional team.
The role focuses on preliminary design evaluation, coordinating with Business Development, Execution, and Finance teams.
Qualifications
- Undergrad degree in engineering or equivalent technical field.
- Master's degree in engineering (MS) or business (MBA) is a plus.
- Experience with PV and battery storage project design/analysis tools encouraged.
Responsibilities
- Energy production modeling for projects in development (PVSYST, Helioscope, Plant Predict).
- Battery dispatch modeling for projects in development (Excel, Matlab).
- Site evaluation for project suitability (remote and in-person).
- Project pricing and value engineering with an Estimator.
- Create preliminary plant designs, site layouts, single lines; equipment recommendations.
- Technical diligence for new opportunities; assess third-party data accuracy.
- Support for RFPs, Greenfield Development, and acquisition studies up to 30% design.
- Development of technical deliverables for RFP responses and proposals; coordinate external consultants.
