Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role with the Veterans Affairs department. This full-time position requires strong programming skills and experience in both manual and automated testing, including security testing practices and SDLC knowledge.

Applicants should have 10+ years in software testing, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.

Qualifications

Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
Experience in manual and automated testing across multiple domains.
Proficient with Agile/Scrum and SDLC concepts.
Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD workflows.
Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools.
Knowledge of SQL and validating data in databases.
Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services.
Understanding of security testing practices and tools.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines, with strong collaboration.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and procedures.
Create test scripts, data, and test schedules; document results.
Lead tests and verification activities for IT systems.
Report progress and resolve issues with stakeholders.
Maintain daily test metrics and improve procedures.
Mentor junior testers and translate requirements into test scenarios.
Perform various testing types: functional, regression, integration, system, UAT.
