Applied Intuition is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect the world representation layer at the heart of the Acuity autonomy stack in Arlington, VA. If you’ve built spatial worlds for games, simulations, or autonomous systems, you’ll define how environments are structured, queried, and updated at high frequency.

This senior, deeply technical role sits at the intersection of computational geometry, real-time world modeling, and large-scale simulation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with spatial systems, world modeling, or simulation environments.
• Expert-level C++ skills (C++20 or later) including template metaprogramming, move semantics, SIMD, and performance optimization.
• Experience building world representations—game engine, sim platform, or autonomous system.
• Strong background in computational geometry and spatial data structures.
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Architect core spatial data structures and ECS frameworks for large-scale multi-agent environments.
• Own mapping pipelines between sensor data and the path planning stack, including coordinate frame management and environment abstraction layers.
• Write highly optimized C++20 code with low latency and memory-conscious design; profile hot paths and reduce allocations.
• Lead architectural decisions enabling cross-domain integration across air, ground, and maritime autonomy stacks.
• Collaborate with sensor, planning, and simulation engineers to ensure the scene layer meets the autonomy stack needs.
