Job summary

Applied Intuition is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect the world representation layer at the heart of the Acuity autonomy stack in Sunnyvale, CA. The role focuses on defining 4D spatial abstractions and ECS-based designs, ensuring fast, scalable, and accurate world models for multi-agent environments across air, ground, and maritime domains.

You will own core systems from geometry pipelines to sensor fusion interfaces, collaborating with engineers to deliver real-time performance

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in spatial systems, world modeling, or simulation environments.
• Expert-level C++ skills (C++20 or later), including templates, move semantics, SIMD, and performance optimization at the systems level.
• Hands-on experience building world or scene representations — from a game engine, sim platform, or autonomous system.
• Strong background in computational geometry: coordinate transformations, spatial data structures, and collision/proximity systems.
• Deep intuition for low-latency, high-throughput software design in real-time environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and shell scripting for tooling and automation.
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows and tools.

Responsibilities

• Architect World & Scene Representation Systems: design core spatial data structures and ECS frameworks for large-scale multi-agent environments.
• Own Mapping & Geometry Pipelines: build and optimize geometry and world-state systems between sensor data and path planning.
• Drive Performance to the Metal: write highly optimized C++20 with low latency, cache efficiency, and memory-conscious design.
• Lead Technical Strategy & Integration: drive architectural decisions and clean APIs for cross-domain autonomy stacks.
• Collaborate & Mentor: act as technical anchor across sensor, planning, and simulation teams.
