Applied Intuition in the Washington, DC area is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect the world representation layer at the heart of our Acuity autonomy stack. You’ll define how environments are structured, queried, and updated at high frequency, owning the foundational scene and mapping systems used by sensor fusion and path planning.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, expert C++ skills (C++20+), and hands‑on work building world

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering, with spatial systems or simulation experience.
• Expert-level C++ skills (C++20+), with performance optimization.
• Experience building world or scene representations in games, sims, or autonomous stacks.
• Strong background in computational geometry and real-time data structures.
• Proficiency in Python and shell scripting for tooling.

Responsibilities

• Architect World & Scene Representation Systems: design core spatial data structures and ECS frameworks.
• Own Mapping & Geometry Pipelines: build and optimize geometry and environment abstraction layers.
• Drive Performance to the Metal: write highly optimized C++ with low latency and cache efficiency.
• Lead Technical Strategy & Integration: drive architectural decisions across domains.
• Collaborate & Mentor: work with sensor, planning, and simulation engineers to meet needs.
