Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Retail DEX team.

You will work on data and trading systems powering onchain trading within the Coinbase app, enabling millions of traders to access assets across blockchains like Base and Solana. You’ll design smart contracts, scale real-time data pipelines, and optimize the trading stack end-to-end while collaborating on agentic-first software patterns and AI-assisted workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience in production data systems.
• Experience designing data-intensive systems with Kafka, ClickHouse, StarRocks, Temporal, Redis.
• Proven experience designing/integrating onchain smart contracts (Ethereum/Base, Solana).
• Ability to build and iterate agentic-first codebases in production.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Integrate new blockchains, DEXs, and launchpads into the Coinbase app to unlock more onchain assets.
• Design and implement first-party smart contracts for onchain trading primitives to improve execution quality.
• Scale real-time data pipelines to handle 100K+ messages per second for millisecond-latency data processing.
• Optimize the trading stack end-to-end for fastest execution and comprehensive asset coverage.
• Drive iteration on agentic-first development patterns and tooling to accelerate team velocity.
