Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Retail DEX team within the Consumer & Business group. You will build backend data systems and onchain trading capabilities that power millions of traders across base and Solana, balancing off-chain and onchain workflows for fast, reliable execution.

The role emphasizes designing data-intensive architectures, real-time pipelines, and scalable services, with opportunities to leverage AI responsibly and ship high-impact features at speed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with data systems or data pipelines in production.
• Experience designing data-intensive systems and integrating with large-scale data infrastructure (Kafka, Clickhouse, Starrocks, Temporal, Redis).
• Proven experience designing and integrating with onchain smart contracts on Ethereum/Base or Solana.
• Ability to build, iterate on, and improve agentic-first code repositories and systems in production.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to deliver quality outputs.

Responsibilities

• Integrate new blockchains, DEXs, and launchpads into the Coinbase app to expand onchain assets.
• Design and implement first-party smart contracts for onchain trading primitives.
• Scale real-time data pipelines to handle 100K+ messages per second with millisecond latency.
• Optimize the trading stack end-to-end for fast execution and broad asset coverage.
• Drive agentic-first development patterns and tooling to accelerate team velocity.
