Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Retail DEX) to join the Retail DEX team in the Consumer & Business group. You will build systems that bridge off-chain and onchain trading, enabling millions of traders to access assets across Base and Solana.

You will scale real-time data pipelines, design onchain primitives, and push for agentic-first development to accelerate team velocity. This is a remote-first company with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with data systems in production.
• Hands-on experience designing data-intensive systems and integrating with Kafka, Clickhouse, Starrocks, Temporal, and Redis.
• Proven experience designing and integrating with onchain smart contracts on EVM (Ethereum/Base) or Solana.
• Ability to build and iterate agentic-first code in production environments.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Integrate new blockchains, DEXs, and launchpads into the Coinbase app to unlock onchain assets.
• Design and implement first-party smart contracts for onchain trading primitives to improve execution.
• Scale real-time data pipelines to handle 100K+ messages per second with millisecond latency.
• Optimize the trading stack end-to-end for fast execution and comprehensive asset coverage.
• Drive agentic-first development patterns to build self-improving software and tooling.
