Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Retail DEX) to support the data and trading systems powering onchain trading in the main Coinbase app.

You will work across off-chain and onchain worlds to deliver a unified trading experience for millions of traders on Base, Solana, and other networks. You’ll design pipelines, contracts, and integrations for high-throughput data, while improving execution quality and asset coverage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering with data systems in production.
• Experience designing data-intensive systems and large-scale data infra.
• Proven work with onchain smart contracts (EVM/Base or Solana).
• Experience with Kafka, Clickhouse, Starrocks, Temporal, Redis.
• Ability to build agentic-first code and responsibly use AI in workflows.

Responsibilities

• Integrate new blockchains, DEXs, and launchpads into the Coinbase app.
• Design and implement first-party onchain trading primitives and smart contracts.
• Scale real-time data pipelines to handle 100K+ messages/sec with millisecond latency.
• Optimize the trading stack end-to-end for fastest execution and broad asset coverage.
• Drive agentic-first development patterns to accelerate team velocity.
