Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Retail DEX), to join the Retail DEX team in the Consumer & Business group. You will work on data and trading systems powering onchain trading across Base and Solana, building software that bridges off-chain and onchain assets for millions of traders.

The role emphasizes integrating blockchains, designing onchain contracts, scaling real-time data, and improving the trading stack for speed and coverage.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with data systems in production.
• Experience designing data-intensive systems and integrating with large-scale data infra (Kafka, Clickhouse, Starrocks, Temporal, Redis).
• Experience integrating onchain smart contracts on Ethereum/Base or Solana.
• Proven ability to build and iterate on agentic-first code repositories in production.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Integrate new blockchains, DEXs, and launchpads into the Coinbase app to unlock more onchain assets.
• Design and implement first‑party smart contracts for onchain trading primitives.
• Scale real‑time data pipelines to handle 100K+ messages per second with millisecond latency.
• Optimize the trading stack end‑to‑end for fastest execution and best fills.
• Drive iteration on agentic‑first development patterns to accelerate team velocity.
