Job summary

Leidos is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer SME to join the Chinook Program supporting the Intelligence Community. You will lead technical design, integration, and deployment of modern web applications and services, mentoring engineers while ensuring secure, scalable solutions for critical mission needs.

You will contribute across the full lifecycle, champion DevSecOps practices, and work with government and contractor stakeholders to deliver reliable, mission-focused software.

Qualifications

• US citizenship is required for the contract.
• Bachelor's degree plus 12-15 years (or Master’s with 10-13 years) of relevant experience.
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JSON, REST APIs, and modern web frameworks.
• Experience with Python/Java/JavaScript and Go.
• Experience with multi-cloud architectures (AWS, IBM, Google, Azure, Oracle).
• Experience with AWS services (S3, SQS, SNS, EC2, CloudFormation, RDS).
• Relational (MySQL/PostgreSQL/SQL Server) and NoSQL (OpenSearch/Elasticsearch) databases.
• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and DevSecOps tools (GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus).
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and tools (JIRA, Confluence) and GEOINT workflows.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical SME and advisor for Chinook mission applications.
• Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain web apps and backend services.
• Develop scalable, secure software across front-end and back-end tiers.
• Translate requirements into robust architecture and implementation plans.
• Provide leadership in design, coding standards, reviews, and best practices.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, data services, and system integrations.
• Build responsive front-ends using modern web frameworks.
• Design and optimize database schemas and data-processing workflows.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across application layers and production.
• Support CI/CD, DevSecOps, and containerized/cloud-enabled environments.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and mentor junior engineers.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, security, scalability, and reliability.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for mission needs.
