Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to join our Corporate Credit Card delivery team. This remote role supports enterprise-scale systems across Digital, Cards, Risk, and Merchant Services, with a focus on design, reliability, and scalable implementations.

You will mentor SCRUM teams, drive best practices, and lead real-time and file-based integrations, while maintaining secure, well-documented code.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with 3+ years of experience.
• Advanced knowledge and experience with Java 11+.
• Strong understanding of Spring/Spring Boot frameworks.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and design patterns.
• Experience with unit testing and mocking frameworks.
• Experience with Git, Postman, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
• Knowledge of OOD/OOA and API design.
• Familiarity with real-time and file-based integrations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop technical solutions meeting functional, performance, and reliability goals.
• Lead multiple tech leads managing SCRUM teams and provide coaching.
• Drive domain-wide improvements in quality, speed, and throughput.
• Maintain and scale IAAS/SaaS and on‑prem applications across multiple domains.
• Troubleshoot defects and data/configuration issues to locate root causes.
• Support complex, business-critical applications.
• Apply judgment within defined procedures to determine actions.
• Promote best practices and enforce standards across teams.
• Design and develop real-time and file-based integrations; optimize database processing.
• Foster a developer-friendly environment with clear, well-documented code.
• Continuously improve and support teammates.
