Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Coinbase Advisor team in the Consumer & Business group. This backend role powers an agentic trading system that chats about portfolios, gives advice, and executes trades at scale.

You will own backend design, integrate with trading APIs, and shape agent behavior through prompts and evals, while ensuring reliability, safety, and regulatory alignment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong API design, distributed systems, data modeling, testing.
• Proficiency in Go or ability to learn it quickly.
• Experience building production LLM or agentic systems.
• Proven ability to take ambiguous projects from zero to production with minimal oversight.
• Uses generative AI responsibly with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, from design through launch and operation.
• Build integrations with trading APIs for correct, auditable execution.
• Develop agentic harness including tool calling, orchestration, state, and recovery.
• Shape agent behavior through prompt engineering and evals with partnerships.
• Improve reliability, latency, observability, and execution safety.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, trading infra, and legal/compliance.
