Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Coinbase Advisor team within the Consumer & Business group. This role focuses on backend services powering agentic trading, delivering fast, clear, and trustworthy experiences for millions of users.

You will own backend services from design to launch, integrate with trading APIs, and shape agent behavior through prompt engineering and evaluation, while collaborating across frontend, product, design, and compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a backend focus.
• Strong experience with API design, distributed systems, data modeling, testing, and debugging production failures.
• Proficiency in Go or demonstrated ability to learn it quickly.
• Experience building production LLM or agentic systems, including tool calling, orchestration, or evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services powering Coinbase Advisor and Strategies, from design through launch and operation.
• Build integrations with Coinbase trading APIs so agent recommendations translate into correct execution.
• Develop the agentic harness, including tool calling, orchestration, and recovery from failed actions.
• Shape agent behavior through prompt engineering, evals, and conversation analysis, with input from the RIA on financial advice.
• Improve service reliability, latency, observability, and safeguards against duplicates.
• Collaborate with frontend, product, design, trading infra, and compliance to ship capabilities within guardrails.
