Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead projects for federal and public sector clients. The role requires independence and ability to mentor engineers and scientists on sediment remediation efforts.

You will evaluate remediation technologies, design sediment remediation plans for riverine, coastal, and port settings, and coordinate with clients and staff to deliver technically sound solutions in compliance with CERCLA/GLLA frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Providing expertise in evaluating sediment remediation technologies and preparing designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port sites.
• Understanding sediment and contaminant transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design, and construction.
• Providing support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serving as CDM Smith’s task manager on sediment sites, communicating technical strategy to clients and experts.
• Expertise in CERCLA, GLLA, and other regulatory steps at contaminated sediment sites.
• Liaising with clients and outside consultants, communicating complex evaluations to non-experts.
• Leading staff in preparing and reviewing technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance.
