Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a mid- to senior-level Sediment Remediation Scientist or Geologist to lead sediment remediation projects for federal and public sector clients. The role emphasizes independent work and team leadership on complex sites with multiple stakeholders.

The candidate should demonstrate expertise in evaluating remediation technologies, design, and regulatory processes (CERCLA/GLRA). Domestic/international travel may be required; strong communication and client liaison skills are

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 7 years of related experience; travel may be required.
• Equivalent related experience can substitute for a degree.

Responsibilities

• Providing expertise evaluating sediment remediation technologies and preparing designs for riverine, coastal, riparian/floodplain, and/or port sites.
• Understanding sediment transport, environmental site assessment, sampling/monitoring technologies, cap modeling, dredge approaches, remedial action design/construction.
• Providing support of mathematical/statistical evaluations of environmental data sets.
• Serving as CDM Smith’s task manager on sediment sites, communicating technical strategy to clients and SME teams.
• Possessing in-depth expertise in CERCLA, GLBA, and other regulatory steps for contaminated sediment sites.
• Serving as a technical liaison with clients, public, and outside consultants; translating complex evaluations for non-experts.
• Leading staff in preparing/reviewing technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance and technical soundness.
