Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Scheduler Sr to join Texas Oncology at the Grandview, El Paso clinic. This full-time role runs 8:00a–5:00p, Monday–Friday, supporting scheduling of patient appointments and tests within the clinic.

Under direct supervision, you will serve as a liaison between patients and medical staff, handle calls, schedule, obtain authorizations, collect payments, and ensure patient confidentiality while adhering to compliance standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0-3 years office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and coding a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.

Responsibilities

• Answers all incoming calls; assesses callers’ needs and directs to appropriate personnel.
• Schedules new patients, patient referrals and returning patients in the EMR per physician/office guidelines.
• Obtains and enters all insurance authorizations and referrals in patients charts/EMR.
• Collects co-pays, deductibles and other out-of-pocket amounts at time of visit.
• Maintains primary office scheduling template containing physician meetings and satellite schedule.
• Arranges for patients to have financial counseling as needed.
• Demonstrates understanding of patient confidentiality to protect patient and clinic information.
• Performs additional front-office duties as requested by supervisor.
• Prepares correspondence, memos, forms and other typing as requested.
• May schedule outpatient appointments, testing, surgeries and hospital admissions with required pre-certification.
• May communicate to patient about surgeries or tests and gather necessary prep information.
• May be responsible for follow-up on pre-operative tests and scheduling post-operative follow-ups.
• Where applicable, understands medical terminology related to tests and procedures.
