Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a senior SCADA Design Lead to manage in-house SCADA system designs for utility-scale PV, BESS, and other projects. You will coordinate with OT teams and external contractors to deliver scalable, compliant designs and documentation.

You will mentor engineers, develop design standards, and ensure long-term reliability across projects, using AutoCAD, Visio, and standard industry practices.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering preferred.
• 6-8 years of engineering experience in renewable energy; direct SCADA engineering experience.
• Direct experience drafting engineering drawing sets for SCADA, networking, electrical or substation designs.
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking.
• Advanced knowledge of SCADA networks using fiber optics, RS-232/RS-485, Ethernet.
• Advanced knowledge of industrial automation protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA/DA).
• Ability to work with sub-contractors and field personnel.
• Proficiency with project management, scheduling and task tools.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead in-house SCADA design for utility-scale renewable projects (PV, BESS, wind).
• Develop designs in AutoCAD, Visio; create diagrams, port maps, powering diagrams and BOMs.
• Define and improve SCADA design standards for quality and consistency.
• Lead cross-functional requirements sessions and translate needs into scalable designs.
• Review and approve detailed design documentation and perform senior-level redlines.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous learning.
• Collaborate with OT teams to validate hardware requirements and risks.
• Drive standardization to reduce design/commissioning effort.
• Prepare training materials and provide project status updates.
• Ensure compliance with NERC and SOLV standards.
