Job summary

Affirm seeks a Senior Staff Sales Engineer to combine technical aptitude with strong communication to architect scalable checkout and payments solutions for enterprise merchants. You will lead technical discovery, design integrations, and support pre‑sale activities while collaborating across sales, engineering, and product teams.

As a Staff Engineer, you will develop merchant solutions, advise on architecture, and help scale internal processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business or technology.
• 4+ years in Sales Engineering, Solution Architecture, or related pre‑sales roles.
• 3+ years in the payments/fintech industry.
• Strong API integrations and SaaS platforms knowledge.
• Experience with ecommerce checkout and payment systems.
• Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert on integration solutions for merchants.
• Architect end‑to‑end solutions addressing merchant challenges.
• Build trust with Enterprise & Key merchants.
• Partner with sales to drive opportunities for large customers.
• Provide customer voice to influence product management.
• Create reusable materials and trainings for go‑to‑market.
• Provide technical input for sales planning and risk assessment.
• Develop pre‑sales material and demo content.
• Build custom demos as required.
