Job summary

Southland Industries, Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist to lead inspections, document incidents, and coordinate safety programs and training. You will ensure compliance with OSHA rules and company standards across sites, reporting concerns to safety leadership.

The role emphasizes accident investigations, training material development, and mentorship of junior staff, with strong emphasis on safety program execution and client collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant safety experience including training employees.
• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• CPR and First Aid instructor preferred.
• OSHA 10hr, 30hr, and 40hr training required; OSHA 500/CHST/ASP certifications preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety management systems and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect job sites to ensure OSHA and company safety compliance.
• Document safety inspections and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain safety records, accident reports, inspection logs, and training records.
• Provide emergency response and assist investigations; report data to regulators.
• Develop and coordinate employee safety training programs.
• Mentor junior safety staff and assist with ad-hoc safety projects.
• Participate in client and owner safety meetings.
