Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Safety role to inspect job sites, document incidents, and coordinate safety programs and training. You will ensure compliance with OSHA rules, maintain essential safety records, and support emergency response and investigations.

The position emphasizes collaboration with safety management, mentoring junior staff, and developing training materials to advance a safe work environment across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline, or equivalent education, training and/or experience
• 1+ years of relevant experience
• CPR and First Aid, OSHA 500/CHST/ASP certification preferred
• OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred
• Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Solid customer service and organizational skills
• Solid computer skills - experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet
• Solid knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures

Responsibilities

• Tours and inspects job sites to ensure OSHA compliance and reports concerns to safety management
• Cites dangerous areas/procedures and recommends corrective actions
• Maintains safety documentation including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs
• Provides emergency response to employees and documents investigations for regulatory reporting
• Mentors less-experienced safety staff and assists with training material development
