Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Safety Inspect/Coordinator to support a safe work environment by conducting inspections, documenting incidents, and coordinating safety programs and training at our Texas sites.

Responsibilities include site tours, OSHA compliance, program coordination, documentation of inspections and training logs, and assisting with emergency responses and onboarding new staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline, or equivalent education, training and/or experience
• 1+ years of relevant experience
• CPR and First Aid, OSHA 500/CHST/ASP certification preferred
• OSHA 10hr, OSHA 30hr, OSHA 40hr training preferred
• Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• Solid problem solving skills
• Solid customer service and organizational skills
• Solid computer skills - experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet

Responsibilities

• Tours and inspects smaller, less complex job sites with guidance to ensure compliance with company, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations
• Reports concerns to safety management
• Coordinates, promoting and conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system
• Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/procedures and recommending corrective procedures
• Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues. Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe
• Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs
• Assists with providing emergency response to employees as needed. Participates in and documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries and submits data to regulatory agencies as required
• Assists with onboarding new employees, including orientation
