Job summary

ABB is seeking a Field Service Technician to work on-site with customers, perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and upgrades of critical power equipment. The role includes coaching technicians, preparing material lists, and identifying improvement opportunities while maintaining strict safety standards.

The position requires electrical engineering education with multiple experience paths, strong communication, project-management skills, and the ability to work in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant electrical field with work experience in critical power equipment.
• Able to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels and collaborate well.
• Proficient with MS Office; capable of basic project management using MS Project or Excel.
• Skilled in writing test plans and reporting results.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrates sense of urgency and ownership to complete jobs.
• Authorized to work in the US for ABB.

Responsibilities

• Work on-site with customers to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
• Perform field service tasks, troubleshoot on-site within certified areas.
• Install, commission, maintain, repair, upgrade, and retrofit equipment.
• Coach and supervise technicians; train team members and customers as needed.
• Prepare material lists and ensure availability of parts and equipment.
• Build positive customer relationships and identify new sales opportunities.
• Suggest product and process improvements to management.
• Follow safety protocols and report unsafe practices.
