Job summary

Qualus Corporation seeks experienced Relay Testing Professionals in Field Engineering (Level III, Senior, Lead) to commission and test protection and control schemes for substations and plants. You will work with IEDs, SCADA, and IEC-61850 interfaces, traveling to client sites as needed.

The role emphasizes technical excellence, mentoring, and adherence to safety standards, with a strong focus on field testing, documentation, and collaboration with clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ relay testing and commissioning experience in substations; military env. acceptable in lieu of relay testing.
• Associate degree or equivalent technical training; technicians may be classified for military training.
• Electric power systems, control systems, switchgear, or protective equipment familiarity.
• Ability to read One Line, AC/DC Elementary and Wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for field work; strong English communication.

Responsibilities

• Red-lines design documents in single line and wiring diagrams.
• Perform end-to-end testing and IED testing with test sets.
• Develop test plans and risk assessments for protection schemes.
• Analyze scope and drawings to create functional guidelines.
• Lead tasks within a project and provide technical leadership.
• Conduct weekly site safety inspections and ensure policy compliance.
