Qualus Corporation in the United States is seeking experienced Relay Testing Professionals at the Level III, Senior, and Lead levels to commission and test protection & control schemes for utility substations and plants, including IED interfaces and IEC-61850 media. The role emphasizes end-to-end testing, field work, mentoring of technicians, and technical leadership on projects with well-defined scopes.

Travel to client sites is part of the role, with housing paid and a clear path for career

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in relay testing and commissioning in substations. Experience troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, maintaining, and operating electrical power systems, control systems, instrumentation, switchgear, or protective equipment.
• Associate degree holders and candidates with equivalent technical training may be classified as Technicians.
• Bachelor's degree holders in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited program may be classified as Engineers.
• Experience with volt-ohm-meter and hand tools.
• Experience reading and interpreting One Line, AC & DC Elementary and Wiring diagrams.
• Ability to perform regular field work in varying environments and weather.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Red-lines design documents throughout the drawing set (Single Line, AC/DC Elementary, Wiring, Panel Arrangement, BOM).
• Performs End-To-End testing.
• Performs IED testing with automated test sets (Doble 6150, Omicron, Manta) for protection & control schemes.
• Identifies risks associated with testing and commissioning.
• Develops test plans, risk assessments, and practical application of protection & control systems.
• Analyzes scope and drawings to create functional guidelines and risk assessments.
• Leads people and tasks within a project, providing technical and people leadership.
• Performs weekly site safety inspections.
• Leads the application of HP with the Project Lead's approval.
• Supports company and customer policies and procedures.
