Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Senior Relay Settings Engineer to design, specify, calculate settings, and coordinate protective relays and relay control schemes for major utility substations in the United States. The role requires 7+ years of relay settings experience and a strong background in protection and control engineering.

The position involves modeling, short circuit studies, and ensuring compliance with company and client standards while presenting technical solutions to customers in real time.

Qualifications

• BSEE with power systems focus; MS may substitute.
• Experience in protection and control engineering and relay settings.
• Professional Engineering registration or plan to become registered.
• Strong analytical and computer skills.
• Ability to identify software needed for design work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• CYME familiarity and fuse coordination preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, specification, setting calculation, and coordination of protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Modeling, short circuit and overstressed breaker studies; provide protective relaying recommendations.
• Ensure all relay settings activities conform with company policies and client standards.
• Present technical solutions to key customers and respond to questions in real time.
• Collaborate with Qualus groups to develop and implement technical solutions for engineering goals.
