Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Principal Relay Settings Engineer to lead protective relay design and coordination for major substations and generation interconnections. You will specify, calculate settings and coordinate relay control schemes while modeling short-circuit studies and ensuring compliance with client standards.

The ideal candidate has 12+ years in protection and control, PE registration, and strong skills in CAPE/ASPEN.

Qualifications

• BSEE with power systems focus; MS may substitute.
• 12+ years in protection and control engineering and relay settings.
• Experience with CAPE and/or ASPEN.
• PE registration is required; working state PE is a plus.
• Strong analytical and computer skills; able to identify necessary software.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; self-motivated multitasker.
• CYME familiarity; reclosers/sectionalizing schemes/fuse coordination preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, calculate settings and coordinate protective relaying and relay control schemes.
• Model short circuit and overstressed breaker studies and provide protective relaying recommendations for generation interconnections.
• Ensure all relay settings activities comply with company policies and client design standards.
• Present technical solutions to customers and respond to technical concerns in real time.
• Collaborate with Qualus groups to develop and implement technical solutions for Engineering Department objectives.
• Support multiple projects in parallel.
