Job summary

Qualus seeks a Lead Relay Settings Engineer to design, specify, calculate settings, and coordinate protective relays and relay control schemes for major utility substations. You will model short-circuit studies and provide recommendations while ensuring compliance with standards.

Requires 7+ years in protection and control, strong analytical and communication skills, and PE considerations; role may be based in multiple US locations with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems focus.
  • 7+ years of protection and control engineering and relay settings experience.
  • Engineering credentials or plan to become PE; state registration is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, computer, and software identification skills.
  • Excellent communication with customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, specify, setting calculation, and coordination of protective relaying and relay control schemes.
  • Modeling, short circuit and overstressed breaker studies and protective relaying recommendations.
  • Ensure activities conform to company policies and client design standards.
  • Present technical solutions to customers and respond to questions in real time.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement technical solutions for engineering objectives.
