Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) in Richmond, VA is seeking a Sr. Relay Technician to serve as technical lead for protection and control systems.

You will perform advanced testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and full project execution on substation and industrial systems, guiding field teams. Candidates bring deep expertise in analyzing protection schemes, relay settings, and practical experience with relay panels, transformer changes, and breakers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience installing, testing, and repairing protective relays in substations.
• Experience with transmission, generation, or distribution systems.
• Ability to travel and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety briefings and enforce safety policies on site.
• Analyze protection schemes and supervise commissioning and testing.
• Perform advanced end-to-end testing of relay panels and control circuits.
• Read schematics and verify relay settings and configurations.
• Lead root-cause analyses for trips and disturbances.
• Mentor Relay Technician I/II and coordinate field activities with customers.
