Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Sr. Relay Technician to lead protection and control system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting for substation and industrial applications.

You will manage complex projects, supervise field teams, and interact with utilities and customers to ensure safe, reliable operation. Responsibilities include analyzing protection schemes, performing installation and testing of relay panels, and delivering comprehensive reports.

Qualifications

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen (safety sensitive)
  • Background check required
  • Able to travel out of town for periods
  • Valid driver's license with clean record
  • Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing & repairing protective relays in substations
  • Capable of trouble shooting distribution & transmission controls circuits
  • Knowledge of relay test software

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety briefings and enforce safety policies on job sites
  • Analyze protection schemes for power circuits and components
  • Install, commission, test, and verify relay panels and breaker replacements
  • Execute end-to-end functional testing using relay test equipment
  • Read and validate protection and control schematics and configurations
  • Calibrate and test electromechanical and microprocessor relays
  • Lead root cause analyses for trips, failures, and disturbances
  • Develop project execution plans, procedures, and energization plans
  • Manage large-scale commissioning and maintenance projects
  • Coordinate resources, schedules, and field activities
  • Prepare comprehensive test reports and as-built documentation
  • Mentor Relay Technicians and junior engineers
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders to report status
