Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking a senior estimator/detailer focused on reinforcing-steel to join our team. You will review structural drawings, perform takeoffs, and develop labor and material pricing aligned with project needs.

The role requires reviewing detailing requirements, identifying constructability issues, and delivering reliable cost estimates and risk assessments for bids and preconstruction.

Qualifications

• 7+ years reinforcing-steel industry experience preferred
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings
• Experience with large concrete, infrastructure, or heavy civil projects
• Strong reading of structural drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of ACI and CRSI requirements
• Proficiency with reinforcing-steel software is highly preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs
• Develop material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor and equipment estimates
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion and splice requirements
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns
• Identify project risks and potential cost exposures
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates
• Assist management with bid strategy and pricing
• Coordinate pricing for materials, fabrication, freight and subs
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions
• Review drawings for detailing requirements
• Prepare placing drawings and bar lists
• Coordinate reinforcing steel with structural and MEP requirements
• Identify conflicts and constructability issues before field
• Coordinate RFIs related to reinforcing steel
• Review shop/placing drawings for accuracy
• Coordinate revisions throughout project
• Work with PMs and field to resolve detailing issues
• Contribute to project turnover from estimating to management
• Develop historical cost information for future estimates
• Support change-order pricing and cost analysis
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and strategy discussions
