Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors is seeking a senior Estimator/Preconstruction specialist with deep reinforcing-steel experience. The role combines estimating, detailing, and collaboration with operations to establish standards and cost databases.

Ideal candidates will review structural drawings, develop labor/material pricing, and identify constructability risks. Strong CAD detailing skills and industry knowledge are essential for leadership in this growing department.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in reinforcing-steel with estimating/detailing background.
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Experience with large concrete projects (industrial, civil, wastewater).
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and specs.
• Understanding of fabrication and field placement processes.
• Proficiency with CAD-based detailing software.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment and freight estimates.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions per project conditions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, bends, couplers and construction joints.
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability issues.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates; assist bid strategy.
• Solicit and evaluate material, fabrication, and subcontractor pricing.
• Maintain organized estimate docs and assumptions.
• Lead or mentor junior estimators and detailers as the dept grows.
