Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking an experienced Estimating/Preconstruction leader to develop reinforcing‑steel takeoffs and cost estimates from complex structural drawings. The role supports project management and operations, shaping preconstruction standards, databases, and processes for a growing team.

The ideal candidate has deep Reinforcing-steel hands-on experience, strong reading of drawings, and familiarity with detailing and fabricating requirements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years reinforcing-steel industry experience
• Experience estimating reinforcing steel for large projects
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and specifications
• Understanding of fabrication/field placement in reinforcing steel
• Knowledge of ACI and CRSI guidelines

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs
• Develop material, fabrication, detailing, labor, equipment and other costs
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions per project
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns
• Identify risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates
• Assist management with bid strategy and pricing
• Coordinate with vendors for pricing and lead times
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions
• Lead the estimating/detailing function as the department grows
