Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking a senior Estimator/Preconstruction Specialist with extensive reinforcing‑steel experience to lead takeoffs, costing, detailing and preconstruction activities. You will review structural drawings, develop labor and material pricing, and provide reliable estimates for complex projects.

Ideal candidates will review plans for constructability, set production-rate benchmarks, and collaborate with project management to ensure accurate bids.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of reinforcing‑steel industry experience
• Experience estimating reinforcing steel on large projects
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and specs
• Experience with large concrete contractors or similar projects

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing‑steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs
• Develop estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, freight and other costs
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions from project conditions
• Identify constructability issues and scope gaps
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates
• Support bid strategy and pricing decisions
• Coordinate RFIs related to reinforcing steel
• Mentor junior estimators and detailers as the department grows
• Establish standardized estimating procedures and templates
• Assist in updating historical cost information
