Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking a senior estimators for reinforcing steel, capable of taking ownership from estimating through preconstruction and execution. The role emphasizes reviewing drawings, developing labor and material pricing, and supporting management with bid strategy for large concrete projects.

The ideal candidate will review structural drawings, develop comprehensive takeoffs, and coordinate with design and field teams to ensure constructability and risk management.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in reinforcing-steel industry with 10+ years preferred.
• Experience estimating reinforcing steel for large projects.
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Strong reading of structural drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of ACI and CRSI requirements.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, aSa, Tekla, SDS/2 or similar software.
• Ability to work independently and communicate with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors and field personnel.
• Strong math and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, freight and other project costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project conditions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion, splice requirements, couplers, dowels, embeds and other reinforcing requirements.
• Review plans and specifications for scope gaps and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in establishing final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate material, fabrication, freight and subcontractor pricing when required.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
