Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking an experienced estimating professional to serve as a technical resource for estimating, project management and operations teams. The role focuses on reinforcing-steel takeoffs, labor/material pricing, and detailing coordination across projects.

You will review drawings, establish production-rate benchmarks, mentor junior estimators, and help develop the company’s estimating standards and preconstruction processes for large concrete projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of reinforcing-steel industry experience with emphasis on estimating.
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and specifications.
• Experience with large commercial, industrial, wastewater, or heavy civil projects.
• Experience estimating reinforcing-steel tonnage and detailing or reviewing placing drawings.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, aSa, Tekla, SDS/2, or similar software.
• Excellent math, analytical skills and the ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from structural drawings and specs.
• Develop accurate estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor and other costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project conditions.
• Review plans for scope gaps, discrepancies and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from materials, fabrication, freight and subs contractors.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
• Review and coordinate detailing drawings with project teams.
