Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking an experienced Reinforcing-Steel Estimator/Lead for a remote, full-time role. The candidate will become a technical resource for estimating, project management and operations, shaping estimating standards and cost databases.

Ideal candidates have substantial reinforcing-steel experience, ability to review drawings, and expertise in takeoffs, labor/material pricing, detailing coordination, and preconstruction processes.

Qualifications

• Substantial hands-on experience in reinforcing-steel industry required.
• Ability to independently review structural drawings and specifications.
• Experience with large concrete-related projects and substantial tonnage is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, labor, equipment and other costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions per project conditions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion, and constructability requirements.
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns.
• Identify risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in bid strategy and pricing.
• Coordinate with material, fabrication and subcontractor pricing when needed.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation.
