Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors is seeking an experienced professional to serve as a remote, senior role focusing on reinforcing-steel estimating, detailing, and department leadership. The position collaborates with estimating, project management, and field teams to establish standards and processes for accurate cost forecasting.

The ideal candidate brings substantial reinforcing-steel experience and a track record of managing bid development, costing, and detailing for large concrete projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in reinforcing-steel industry experience
• Experience estimating reinforcing steel
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings
• Experience with large concrete projects (industrial, infrastructure, heavy civil)
• Experience estimating projects involving substantial reinforcing-steel tonnage
• Strong structural drawing and specification reading ability
• Knowledge of reinforcing-steel fabrication and field placement (ACI/CRSI)
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, aSa, Tekla, SDS/2 or similar software
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Effective communication with PMs, engineers, contractors, vendors and field personnel
• Formal degree not required if substantial relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs
• Develop estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, and other costs
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns
• Identify project risks and cost exposures before bid submission
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates
• Assist management in bid strategy and pricing
• Coordinate pricing for materials, fabrication, freight and subscontracts
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions
• Review detailing requirements and coordinate with structural/MEP teams
• Coordinate RFIs related to reinforcing steel
• Resolve detailing/constructability issues with project teams
• Lead department development and establish standardized procedures
• Mentor junior estimators and detailers
• Develop historical cost information for future estimates
• Support change-order pricing and cost analysis
