Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking a senior estimator with deep reinforcing-steel experience to lead estimates for major projects. The role combines estimating, detailing review, and collaboration with project teams to establish reliable cost baselines.

Ideal candidates will review drawings, prepare labor and material pricing, and develop historical cost data while supporting preconstruction and strategic bid decisions. Remote-friendly, full-time opportunity with performance bonus potential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years reinforcing-steel industry experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel.
• Significant detailing experience or reviewing placing drawings.
• Experience on large commercial, industrial, water/wastewater, infrastructure projects.
• Experience with substantial reinforcing-steel tonnage.
• Strong reading of structural drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of fabrications and field placement standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, labor, equipment, and freight.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions per project conditions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion, couplers, dowels, and embeds.
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and final estimates.
• Assist management with bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from materials, fabrication, freight and subs contractors.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
• Review detailing requirements and coordinate with structural/MEP teams.
• Lead in establishing standardized estimating procedures and templates.
