Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors is seeking a senior Reinforcing-Steel Estimator to join our remote team. You will lead takeoffs, pricing, and preconstruction activities, supporting project management and operations with reliable cost data.

You have deep hands-on experience in reinforcing steel, strong reading of structural drawings, and the ability to establish company estimating standards and production-rate benchmarks.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in reinforcing-steel industry, with 10+ years preferred.
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel.
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Experience with large commercial, industrial, wastewater or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to estimate significant reinforcing steel tonnage.
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and specs.
• Understanding of fabrication and field placement.
• Knowledge of ACI and CRSI standards.
• Experience with CAD/ detailing software is strongly preferred.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Independent work style with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication with project teams and vendors.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Degree not required if substantial experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor and other costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions for projects.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion, spacers and other requirements.
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate material, fabrication, freight and subcontractor pricing.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
• Review detailing requirements and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Coordinate RFIs and revisions throughout the project.
• Support project management with change-order pricing and cost analysis.
• Provide technical support to field supervision.
