Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors seeks a seasoned Rebar Estimator/Detailer to join remotely, with periodic travel to project sites. You will lead estimating activities, develop standards, and integrate with project management and operations to drive accurate, competitive bids.

Ideal candidates bring extensive reinforcement steel experience, knowledge of detailing software, and the ability to mentor a growing department while maintaining rigorous cost databases and production-rate benchmarks.

Qualifications

• 7+ years reinforcing-steel industry experience.
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel.
• Significant experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Experience with large concrete, infrastructure or wastewater projects.
• Strong structural drawing and specification reading ability.
• Understanding of reinforcing-steel fabrication and field placement.
• Good knowledge of ACI and CRSI requirements and industry practices.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, aSa, Tekla, SDS/2 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop accurate estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, labor, equipment and freight.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project conditions.
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate material, fabrication, freight and subcontractor pricing.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
• Review shop/placing drawings for accuracy and constructability.
