Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors is seeking a senior professional to serve as a Rebar Estimator/Detailer, supporting estimating, project management and operations. This role entails developing standards, production-rate databases and a preconstruction process for reinforcing steel, with remote work and periodic travel to project sites and meetings.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in estimating and detailing reinforcing steel, familiarity with major CAD software, and the ability to

Qualifications

• 7+ years in reinforcing-steel industry.
• Experience estimating reinforcing steel.
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Experience with large concrete projects (industrial, wastewater, infrastructure).
• Strong ability reading structural drawings and specs.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, Tekla, SDS/2 or comparable software.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
• Develop accurate estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, freight and other project costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project conditions.
• Identify risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in final bid strategy and selling price.
• Coordinate RFIs related to reinforcing steel.
• Mentor junior estimators and detailers as the department grows.
